The Vedic Observer: How To See Current Events in the Light of Scripture (Śāstra-cakṣusā)

a ZOOM Discussion TONIGHT @ 6 pm

It’s amazing to hear devotees of various traditions deride politics & democracy while they watch demoniac persons destroy the world & are either unable or unwilling to connect the dots between the words of scripture & what's happening before their eyes.

For example, in my own tradition, I can understand why Śrīla Prabhupāda called it "demon-crazy" when the majority of the electorate is demonic, but there is NO ALTERNATIVE to it in the modern era, so instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater, why not embrace & participate in it by educating our fellow demonic citizens about dharma and then pick leadership that would be the most favorable to those principles? Democracy is a participatory sport. You don't win if you don't play, and while other major spiritual leaders are in the game, ISKCON has chosen to sit on the bench. This event will not happen unless at least one person RSVP's "going" & actually logs on between the window of 6 & 6:10 pm. We will compare and contrast how ISKCON and other major religious organizations representing God and scripture by their words and actions, (or silence and inaction) starting with a couple of short clips from segments of recent talk shows. We will talk about the reasons for the difference in behavior, & conclude by outlining any changes that may be necessary to align with the will of God, and how to implement that realignment.
